UN World Water Day 2011 – Water for Cities
Cape Town (South Africa) were the proud hosts of the United Nations World Water Day event held from 20-22 March 2011, and co-organized by AMCOW (the African Ministers’ Council on Water), UN-HABITAT and UN-Water. World Water Day is an annual event which commemorates and highlights the importance and sustainable management of freshwater resources. The theme for this year’s World Water Day was “Water and Urbanization, Water for Cities, Responding to the Urban Challenge”, addressing and emphasizing urban water management challenges that the world is facing, and in particular considering rapid urban population growth (especially in Africa and Asia). Emanti was involved in various activities throughout the week, presenting our expertise to the sector and networking with key sector parties and role-players.
