What Wastewater Technology is right for me?

Emanti has been awarded an 18-month Water Research Commission project to develop a spreadsheet-and web-based wastewater technology decision-support tool to assist with determining the most appropriate technology for a particular circumstance. The project aims to develop a tool that will assist decision makers at Water Services Authorities (WSAs) with selecting appropriate wastewater treatment technologies for their municipalities. Aspects to be considered include, for example, community size, land availability, rural vs. urban, complexity of operation and maintenance and consider both existing sites (requiring upgrading/refurbishment) and new sites (greenfields). The tool will also encourage WSAs to meet effluent quality standards according to required regulations and protect drinking water bodies. The project has recently commenced, and the Emanti interns will be intimately involved in bringing innovative tools to South African municipalities and the water sector.
