2016 brings renewed efforts towards Uthukela and Uthungulu’s Water Safety Plans
Emanti Management has intensified efforts in supporting the development of Water Safety Plans (WSP) in Uthukela and Uthungulu, as part of the Department of Science and Technology’s WSP project.
The WSP workshop, held in Ladysmith on the 17th and 18th of February, was well received. The workshop was attended by 25 members of the Uthukela District Municipality whose participation in the workshop made the two days a great success. By request of the municipality, Thabisa Manxodidi from Emanti also provided important Green Drop (wastewater assessment) information to the team on the second day of the workshop.
A similar WSP workshop was held in Richards Bay on the 9th and 10th of March to gather missing information crucial to the Uthungulu Water Safety Plans. The Uthungulu team was very receptive to the efforts and went out of their way to gather the missing information, acknowledging the importance of the WSPs for the effective functioning of the drinking water systems in the municipality.
All in all, the Uthukela and Uthungulu Water Safety Plans have taken a significant step forward this year.
The Emanti team is looking forward to a similar amount of participation in the next phase of the Water Safety Plan development.
