Enhancing Water Safety and Security Planning in Uganda
Emanti has been appointed by the Ministry of Water and Environment (MWE) of Uganda to assist in developing a national framework for water quality management and regulation in Uganda. In particular, Emanti is responsible for developing a Water Safety and Security Planning Framework, including the development of a WSSP Manual for Water Utilities in Uganda, and providing recommendations for the design of an electronic water quality management system.
As part of this project, Emanti conducted interviews with key water sector stakeholders in Uganda in January 2017, including site visits to water supply system infrastructure and a workshop to gain insights as to the current status of drinking-water quality management and water safety and security planning in Uganda, and brainstorming appropriate mechanisms to mainstream improvement thereof throughout Uganda.
The findings from these discussions will be used to develop an appropriate way forward for Uganda, such that the goals of ensuring safe water supply to all Ugandans can be met in the future.
