Setting the Enabling Environment for Water Safety Planning
Philip de Souza was invited by the IWA to participate in and contribute to the IWA Water and Development Congress and Exhibition held at the Dead Sea in Jordan from 18 – 22 October 2015.
In addition to chairing 2 working sessions at the congress (From Catchment to Consumer: Building Climate Resilience; Risk Management for Water and Wastewater Systems), Philip was a key speaker at the Water Safety Plan (WSP) Audit Learning session (in which he provided some insights and lessons learnt from WSP auditing in South Africa and East Africa), and at the WSP Workshop on Setting the Enabling Environment for WSP, in which he shared some of the less technical, softer skill aspects to water safety planning and mobilising a team for action.
Following the congress, Philip represented the Water Safety Planning Specialist Group at the IWA Specialist Group Leaders Forum. Despite the busy schedule, Philip squeezed in some time to go and visit Petra, a world heritage site, and a must for any traveller to Jordan.
